Unemployment Review Idea

When is the last time unemployment benefits received a cost of living increase?
When was the last time unemployment requirements received a review?

Unemployment should be increased to meet the cost of living, this would greatly assist recipients with maintaining their basic needs while continuing to search for employment.  Additionally, it may very well save some home owners and/or renters from foreclosure or eviction, shelters, food banks, and utility assistance.  Which is a process of just of shifting from system to another.   The other systems funding can then remain for to assist those who cannot qualify for unemployment..

The concept of unemployment quarterly requirements should be completely removed. People that have worked very hard and find themselves subjected to a layoffs and/or being fired, apply for unemployment just to be told they didn’t fall within a particular quarter and based on this cannot qualify is crazy.  The bottom line is if you’ve lost your job you should receive unemployment that’s the bottom line.  An unemployment person doesn’t need the additional stress of being told no when they’ve done nothing wrong.  And, yet they may feel that way because they didn’t fall within a given quarter.

Unemployment extensions during these economic times shouldn’t require repeated returns to our legislative body requesting bill extensions.  During times like this it should be open ended bottom line with no expiration.  Unemployment already bares alot of stress and no one enjoys the status, and most people vigorously search for employment quite aggressively.

Therefore, by modifying unemployment to include some if not all of these ideas would greatly assist in reducing any additional stress on our unemployed population sooner rather than later.
